Home Brew Coffee Blends by Zack Bruell
Cleveland restauranteur, Zack Bruell (of L’Albatros, Table 45, Parallax, Chinato, Cowell & Hubbard, Chinato, etc.), released a line of home brew coffee blends. These are available at local Cleveland Heinen’s. See this news release for more information.
I recently has the opportunity to try some of the blends when the bags were gifted to me. The first blend tried was ‘Parallax’ (below), followed by ‘Table 45’ (not shown).
The coffee is fresh, not musty or chalky or dry. The grounds and the resulting brew is aromatic. They are also very dark in color; at their lightest they are caramel/or maple syrup colored and at their darkest they are mahogany or leather.
(Yes, my coffee maker is pink, find similar here)
The other flavor tried, ‘Hot Lips,’ was not as well received. While I found the cherry notes present to be an interesting variation on the home brew, my partner (who averages about five cups of coffee per day) was not as pleased with the blend.
+ Plus: If you read the back of the bag, there is a great description of the influences and flavors contributing to the blend. They even offer food pairing suggestions. It reminded me of the descriptions of wine provided by connoisseurs. They even list pairing suggestions. It could be a fun game to see if you can taste the flavors listed.
